Travel Guide - Nandroya Vineyard is a boutique, cool-climate vineyard at Margate, in southern Tasmania. Margate is a 20-minute drive south of Hobart (19 kilometres), in the D’Entrecasteaux Channel district.
The name ‘Nandroya’ is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘a family living in harmony’ – reflecting the approach that vignerons John and Joy Rees take to all aspects of the winemaking process. Established in 1995, the 1.5-hectare (four acre) vineyard specialises in pinot noir and sauvignon blanc grapes. Small quantities of high quality fruit are grown at the vineyard to produce fine wines made by a local winemaker.
Visitors to Nandroya can sample the latest vintage while enjoying views of Mount Wellington, North West Bay and Bruny Island. Tastings are by appointment, with a new cellar door scheduled to open at the vineyard in late 2007. Thankful that you visited Travel Guide
