Howler - Awesome North Side Bars
7-11 Dawson St, Brunswick, VIC
Travel Guide - Howler is a multifunctional, multifaceted arts hub and bar - a concept space hidden within a Brunswick warehouse that encapsulates all that is good about design, music, theatre, cinema, art and a unique night out.

The architecture at Howler engulfs you without overpowering you. Its most impressive feature is the indoor-outdoor beer garden, with its sculptural bike racks and massive wooden benches, black metal planter boxes full of trees, metal cube sculptures hanging from the A-frame roof and wood-panelled wall that folds back to reveal an outdoor bar.

It also has a fantastic indoor bar space, reached through an automatic glass door next to the central DJ booth, where more plants hover above angled banquette seating and lighting that gives the place a wonderful sense of texture and captures the ''anywhere but here'' vibe all the best bars have.

Howler is an oasis of sound, light and air.

Howler is the one of Melbourne's premier arts and entertainment venues hosting the best and most eclectic artists. Events range from international bands and DJs, through to Fringe, Theatre and Pop Up events. The last year has seen sold out performances by St Vincent, James Blake, Hiatius Kaiyote, TuNeYaRdS, Derrick May, and The Head and The Heart to name but a few.

Dj's also play for free in the garden most nights of the week.

However, perhaps the most unique aspect of Howler is its feeling of being original, good-natured and inclusive.
