Magic Mountain is a large group of rocky outcrops from a sandy ocean floor with numerous gullies, ravines, bommies, swim-throughs and pinnacles which house soft and hard coral colonies. Resident fish include morwong, wrasse leatherjackets, baitfish, bullseyes, catfish, butterfly and angels. Numerous urchins, sea whips, nudibranchs, hydroids, anemones, feather and brittle stars, crabs, crayfish, sponges, tropical fish, wobbygongs and the occasional estuarine cod.
