Travel Guide - Historic Quamby Homestead was built in 1888. It is a short drive from Warrnambool, Port Fairy and the Great Ocean Road. Set in 70 acres of farmland, Quamby Homestead offers the opportunity to soak up some history whilst enjoying fine accommodation in the serenity of a three acre botanical garden setting. Stroll in the garden - its design is attributed to renowned botanist William Guilfoyle - take a two kilometre bush walk or visit the farm animals. Quamby Homestead is ideally located for travelling on to the Great Ocean Road, The Grampians, Ballarat, Melbourne, and over to South Australia (Robe, The Coonawarra region, Adelaide and beyond). Guests can stay in accommodation throughout the garden, all with private entrances, providing privacy, peace and quiet. For short visits, stay in one of the five Mews Rooms with queen or twin single beds. Or for a longer break the original School House and the converted Carriage House offer space to relax and unwind. The idyllic School House, where the Lindsay children were educated, is the perfect romantic hideaway and larger than the Mews. This cottage is ideal for longer breaks or long weekends. In this recently renovated Victorian school house, relax and take in the views over the property's water dams and farm. Enjoy stunning sunsets from the lounge or terrace of the recently renovated Carriage House. Overlooking tranquil farmland, this is an ideal retreat for a family or four adults. With one queen and one twin bedroom, guests can stay in the Carriage House as a self-catering cottage. Quamby Homestead's superb gardens and rural walks are splendid features of the property. So please stay and soak up the ambience, relax and enjoy, feed the farm animals, or spot kangaroos, echidna, possums, and study historic plantings in a relaxed, private atmosphere.
