Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge
Pinnacle Road, Orange, NSW
Travel Guide - The Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge is a 'fun run' style event where you can run or walk to the top of Mount Canobolas (1397m), near Orange NSW. There is one 11 kilometre course and a two wave start. While the course is mostly uphill only a couple of sections are steep. Start near Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds (off Pinnacle Road) you first visit Mt Towac (a steep section but the views make it worth the effort) and then to Young Man Canobolas before the final climb to Mt Canobolas (also steep). It takes in spectacular views from the forestry roads and then on to little used bush tracks through beautiful woodland. Total course climb is 520m. Individual, Team or Family group entries. 12th year for this event. It will also incorporate the 2017 NSW Mountain Running Championship.... See you next time at Travel Guide
