Travel Guide - The Deniliquin Visitor Information Centre and Peppin Heritage Centre is located on the corner of George and Napier Streets, Deniliquin and is open seven days a week 9am to 4pm. The centre also incorporates the Crossing Cafe. Most of you were taught about John and Elizabeth Macarthur at school but a visit to the Peppin Heritage Centre will allow you to follow the story of the pioneering families such as the Peppins, Austins, Millears and Falkiners whose dedication and hard work led to the famous Peppin Merino. The Centre is housed in the old George Street Public School which was built in 1879 and you can reminisce in the original old school room with its desks, blackboard and stick. Marvel at the workmanship of the 1880's ram shed brought in from Warriston and enjoy the tale of the 'Headless Horseman in the original Wanganella Gaol. The main exhibition gallery always has an exhibition that is interesting and enjoyable. From the rather unorthodox Bald Archy Prize to beautiful gowns throughout the centuries you will not be disappointed. Groups are catered for with guided tours and are always welcome. The Visitor Information Centre has all the information you will need to make your holiday in Deniliquin enjoyable. A wide range of souvenirs and brochures are available and the friendly knowledgeable staff and volunteers are there to help you. Why not come and discover Deniliquin, you will be glad you did.
